Savvy Traveler: Plan your vacation in Bali

Bali is a paradise island, where tourists flock all the time. And this time of the year is when Australian tourists head to this wonderful place. There are great value vacation packages to choose from and cheap flights are not very hard to find.

Getting to Bali from Australia is fast and easy . If you fly from Darwin, you’ll be choosing the shortest route to Bali (2h 30 min). Otherwise, be prepared to spend up to 7 h 30 min in the plane. However, the rates are affordable and airlines keeping adding more routes to this paradise. Pacific Blue flights to Bali from Adelaide will be available starting on December 1. And although between December and March the monsoon can bring heavy rain, the days are still often sunny with showers only in the afternoon.

For those who don’t like the humidity, the best time to visit Bali is between June and September. And the airfare is affordable for this time of the year, as well. If you fly from Darwin, you can get away with US$331 RT per person (on Indonesia Air) for travel in late August.

Most of the travelers come to Bali for the superb beaches and the relaxed atmosphere. But, make sure to also visit some of the temples. Each village has to construct and maintain at least three Hindu temples, so you surely have plenty of choices. If you are the adventurous kind of traveler, you should try jungle trekking.

And don’t forget the Balinese cuisine. It is totally different than in the rest of Indonesia, due to its focus on pork. But if you don’t enjoy red meat, there are plenty of salads to choose from, as well as fish and chicken dishes.
