They're cheap, they're safe, and they don't mind you dragging yourself in at odd hours looking scruffy and partied out.

Don't particularly like the prospect of sleeping on a park bench or in the train station if everything's full.

Bring ear plugs. It sure beats enduring the occasional snoring person.
