Jamzen
Cousins Cove, Jamaica, Caribbean

Hostels Guide with BootsnAll

JamzenBook your bed

Jamzen on the Cliffs is an alternative resort in a small fishing village before you reach the main resort area of Negril. JAMZEN on the CLIFFS is located on over four acres of wooded, cliffside land right on the west coast of Jamaica. With a fringing coral reef for your backyard, and the Jamaican countryside for your exploration, Jamzen brings you into the real thing. Enjoy the private aqua-green swimming hole known in the old days as Webster's bathin' hole.

We have four bungalow cottages, each with a private bathroom (no hot water, unless you shower in the afternoon and the sun heats up the pipes). Inside the room you have a bed for two plus a little side bed for one. The setup is two cottages, one veranda. This means you share a veranda, if you have a neighbor. These are nice units to rent as a two bedroom and bring down some friends or family.

Breakfast is included and there is a restaurant for lunch and dinner. It is hard to imagine the Jamaican specialities that have been served here. Of course, there's Ackee and Saltfish, (the national dish), served with original fried dumplin's. Callaloo & Cheese Omelette, Lobster ala James. Steamed Fresh Fish. Parrot. Grouper. Snook. Conch Soup.

You can snorkel out on the fringing reef which surrounds Jamzen and slowly float down the underwater cliff with the current. Or if you are an experienced kayaker, try a kayak tour at sunset or sunrise when the water is like glass. The World Famous Sea Hammock is a one-of-a-kind experience...especially suited for non-swimmers and those who just want to experience the underworld We also have flat kayaks for those of you who just want a casual paddle, exploring the reef and the ancient volcanic cliffsides.

There are other activities nearby. Dunnes River Falls is a bit of a drive (2.5 hours) but well worth it if you love nature. Nearby is Ran's Cave, an historic Arawak Cave that was mined in the ole' days for bat guana. Rocky is the local guide and will give you an interesting tour. The are also several nice nature walks into the hills beyond. D. Brown has a nice shop up the road, and there also Joe's Coffee Shop on the Cove and Fridays.

Check availability at Jamzen.
