Shanghai Railway Hotel is a fancy 2-star hotel, located right at the city centre, within walking distance to Nan Jing Lu, the famous shopping area in Shanghai, and next to the Bund, one of the most attractive places of Shanghai.
Shanghai Railway Hotel, originally built November, 1930, used to be called the 'China Hotel', and was one of just a few hotels located in Shanghai at that time.
This recently renovated, Western style building is over 70 years old, yet it is in excellent condition. After the Chinese liberation in 1949, Shanghai Railway Station took it over and used it as a guesthouse to entertain only Chinese customers. It wasn't until 1994, after the renovation, that this hotel began entertaining international customers.
