Oversea's Visitors Club – Book your bed
Situated in the vibrant restaurant and night club area of upper Long Street and within walking distance to the city centre, train & bus stations and the Botanical Gardens; with Table Mountain and the Waterfront only a short drive away, this hostel is ideal for backpackers who wants an active 24 hr stay in Cape Town but also a place to just chill and relax!
This hostel is exclusively for foreign backpackers or OVC/Hostel International members (aged 18-35). The hostel offers 3 dormitory-style rooms with bunk beds (only 6 beds per room) with all rooms facing on to a huge and sociable balcony; a large communal kitchen and lounge with satellite T.V./Video facility; separate showers and toilets. E-mail shops/ supermarkets and take aways are just up the road.
Discounts are available should you have a ISIC (International Student) or HI (Hostel International)card; Globe Trotter guide. There is no curfew - key deposit of R20.
On the balcony foreign friends are entertained with a South African Braai (barbecue) or Potjiekos. Needless to say the management eagerly advise you to also try a 'Springbokkie' (not meat!, but a shooter)....join the gang for some pool/a trip on the Topless Bus or a champagne cruise in the harbour...We give advise on what to do and see and help you in planning an unforgettable time in Cape Town....Guests are also invited to attend any of the OVC social occasions held in the hostel.
The hostel complex includes a full time travel office who can arrange all sorts of travel needs (air tickets, bus tickets, etc) ...and at our Africa Desk we can arrange overland tours to anywhere in Africa. We also book and arrange day trips (Winelands, Cape Point, etc) and do bookings for the Garden Route and other longer trips around SA. We are a BazBus Stop and sell their tickets.
The Bedford ex-army safari truck goes on a two day weekend excursions to the West Coast -Langebaan Lagoon tour - (a must for the flower season -Aug to Oct.)
